Welcome to Over the Vinkus!

Here at Over the Vinkus, you can explore the different Oz books with chapter-by-chapter discussion, images, and videos as discussed by a Oz fan. Check back daily/weekly to see the changes done to each episode, new episodes, the different tabs, and other great resources continuously put onto this site as I am continuously updating individual entries with new and updated videos, activities, and resources. It is my intention to continuously evolve this site to reflect my understanding of the magic of Oz and the daily fun that it brings with it. Below, you will notice what I am currently reading through and what we readings I have completed already. You can access previous “episodes”, as I call them, in my archives.

CURRENT READING: The Marvelous Land of Oz, 1904

  • The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900)
  • The Wizard of Oz Production (c. 1902)

I believe that one aspect that makes my website different is that I am gathering here all the videos and visual representations of the different Land of Oz books all while connecting to a broader group of Oz fans. Furthermore, each reflection on the Wizard of Oz chapters can be viewed as episodes. Just like in a TV series where the heroes face a different challenge a week, so goes each entry starting with Baum’s first great book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900). As the site grows, there will be more technologically interactive options like listening to the episodes in podcast (and possibly video) form. For now, please enjoy these contemporary videos and interpretations of the Land of Oz or begin your adventure in Oz in the Oz Episode Archives.
